Last minute issues

As expected, I am having issues getting things to link correctly. If anyone has some advice, please let me know what I could do. I was not able to put Assign-A-Day on my blog as it says it simply has errors. I was able to get it on my Unit Link.
The second issue is the opposite. I can get my rubric to show up on my blog but not on my unit link. They are both saved at the 4Teachers.org site but they won't work one way or another.
I know everyone has their own issues and this just happened as they worked earlier. I was simply making sure everything worked one last time...It didn't. Surprise!

Almost there...who am I kidding?

After taking and almost near the end of this class, I have come to realize that I have a huge learning curve that I need to get bending in my favor. As I am learning what we have done to date, I know that there is something new that could benefit my students, family, friends, and myself.
I have many questions about so many of the assignments I did and how I could have made them better. I guess the real goal is to encourage the use of technology in your classroom to inspire those students who you may not have reached yet or maybe even challenged enough.
The most important thing I again learned was the we never stop learning. Most of the units I looked at looked great and I know I have to bring myself up to your level to be able to reach those students that I have not yet! It did open my eyes to a great deal of things that must be used in my classroom because that is what my students deserve. I ask for their best and I must give mine...I just need more bending of that curve.

Thought I was getting the hang of it!

This week I was able to complete most of the projects that are due and a few that are probably past due. The one thing I regret is when I make mistakes suxh as posting on the wrong section of the DB. I mistakenly placed a review of someone's review on the article review. Please excuse the mistake and accept the apology. I have learned a great deal this week about Prezi and how it may pertain to certain disciplines. My wife being a math teacher was not at all interested as she simply wants her kids to comprehend what they are working on. Each of the new things I have learned may not be for everybody but I do know that there is a great deal of material available to us as teachers. Its great to come up with the perfect unit, but kinda depressing when someone did the same thing last month. I have learned to use what is available and create what I feel I need for my students to be successful.

Curriculum Update

I have also been working on my Curriculum Unit and came to realize that one can over plan for what is possible when working with Middle School Students with a split schedule. I am now focusing on more specific aspects of government as it was established by the constitution. I plan to use a great deal of current events and my original plan of focusing historical documents. I hope this will draw more interest and more understanding of the roles of our branches of government from the students and myself as well.

Learning New Tricks

I was very concerned when I first saw the expectations for the class and noticed that I was not as familiar with the things we would be required to do. Each day for the first week, I was sure I was in way over my head. Slowly, I am learning that the real key to this is to make your own mistakes by trying to do what was asked. I guess I simply have to remember what we tell our students each day as well as athletes, if you are a coach. We all learn from our mistakes but the key is to keep working each day. It is also great to now see all the information that is now available to educators. I know to get some kids excited about something, I have to use technology to reach some of them as it is such a huge part of their life.

Using the Internet for teaching

I guess I thought I had been staying up to date on the use of technology in the classroom...I was wrong. I have seen more in a few weeks than I expected for the entire class. I am very interested in podcasts or anything I can use to allow my students to enable themselves to become part of the many tools that are available. We may not all have the labs we need but by allowing students to use technology, I feel I can reach some of those who may not feel challenged or excited about what we may be doing in class.
