Learning New Tricks
I was very concerned when I first saw the expectations for the class and noticed that I was not as familiar with the things we would be required to do. Each day for the first week, I was sure I was in way over my head. Slowly, I am learning that the real key to this is to make your own mistakes by trying to do what was asked. I guess I simply have to remember what we tell our students each day as well as athletes, if you are a coach. We all learn from our mistakes but the key is to keep working each day. It is also great to now see all the information that is now available to educators. I know to get some kids excited about something, I have to use technology to reach some of them as it is such a huge part of their life.

I was a little leery too when I read through the first list of assignments and then when then things started changing I was more apprehensive, but I think that I have gotten a handle on what we are trying to do now.
ReplyDeleteThe technology that is out there for free or very low cost is amazing. In my non student life I have paid pretty good money for things that I now know that I can get for free.
For me that gets to be a drawback because i like to download everything that I see, then I have to try to remember why I decided to use up the memory space. Thankfully I have an extra hard drive that I can just park stuff in till the class is over, then I can play with it.
As the old barbarian said, "That which does not kill us, makes us stronger".
Hang in there and enjoy your students.

Hey ,
ReplyDeleteYou are doing fine. I have taught for 20 years and finally have time and money to afford a masters degree. I know I know less than many of the students taking this class when it deals with technology. I am all about learning, so all is good ;0)

Jeff,
ReplyDeleteI agree. I also was overwhelmed when I saw all that this class entailed but have found like you said that taking it one day at a time it becomes manageable. I really liked your blog. There is a lot of information to go through. :)
